Kathy here: After our adventures on "the loop" we boarded the bus again and went home for a rest. My knee was holding up ok with the brace and hiking stick, but I didn't want to push it. The Willows was a nice respite and soon we were back on the bus and headed for the John Hancock building. It's that iconic Chicago skyline high rise with two towers you see in all the movies and television shows. Anyway, Max was waiting for us and we got on the elevator and went to the 95th floor to the Signature Room for dinner. What an amazing sight. We were right above Lake Michigan with a 180 degree view of the lake and city on it's shore. The drinks, dinner, dessert and service were wonderful, but not a match for the warm time we enjoyed together. It was great to see and talk to Max about his new city and his job and all he has been up to.
After dinner, we took a taxi to Max's apartment. We had a great time watching the hockey game go into overtime and saw the Chicago Blackhawks even the series against the Bruins. Go Hawks! Then Max walked us back to the Willows and after giving him his old Portland Winterhawks jersey from 2001 (it has the same Indian logo as the Blackhawks) we said goodnight and parted company. Thanks Max, for sharing your wonderful city. We had a great time.

The next day, Thursday, June 20th, we got up early to get ready for the drive to Dennis and Laurie's house in Rochester Hills. After beefing up on delicious breakfast at "The Bagel" (the most Jewish deli I had been in since Cleveland), we headed up I-94 toward through Indiana and toward Michigan. 5 hours later we were pulling into their driveway. It was wonderful to see them again. We spent the evening enjoying a delicious chicken dinner and homemade coconut creme pie and catching up on the latest news. Tomorrow we visit Carrie and Nate and look forward to more adventures.
