Fun in Ypsilanti

Kathy here:  I got up late on Friday morning.  It was nice to be at Dennis and Laurie's comfortable home.  The weather did a hot and muggy turn, which is my past experience of the midwest. They say it does cool down here, but whenever I am here (only one time before) it is hot and muggy.  Anyway, after a leisurely morning, we got in the Caravan and headed for the Detroit River in Downtown Detroit.  They were having a celebration there and we wanted to see what was happening.  It was crowded and mostly carnival so we skipped it and headed west.  Destination, the University of Michigan Botanical Garden and Arboretum.  They have a lovely conservatory and garden.  The grounds are huge with lots of walking paths.  The neat thing was everything was designed to be educational, lots of information to mull over.  There was a multitude of path's to follow, each with a different focus, so many biomes, so little time.  We stayed close to the main building though.  Too hot and muggy to venture too far.

After that, we went to a brewery in Ypsilanti to meet Carrie and Nate, and have beer and dinner.  It was so good to see them again.  They are expecting a little girl in September and Carrie is glowing!  We are so happy for them!  After getting a little "glow" on ourselves, we went over to their house.  Lots of warm conversation ensued.  We will see them again at the Bat Mitzvah next weekend.

You guys are cut off

A hour twenty ride from Ypsilanti to home with one quick stop for ice cream completed a very nice day.
