K here: We got up on Tuesday, New Years Eve with determination and steely resolve to make it to Reno, the Nugget Hotel and to celebrate the coming of 2014. Jeff manned the wheel as we entered the freeway and lo and behold, the traffic was light all the way to our exit. We turned right and headed east toward Hwy 395 which follows the east side of the sierra Mts all the way to Nevada. There was almost no traffic and we zoomed down the road with music and interesting scenery to keep us company. We got into Sparks at about 5 and soon were settled in our room. As we went to find dinner, we noticed that everyone was dressed up and sparkly with high heels and those funky New Year's Eve hats. And they seemed to have started to celebrate before we even got started. Some were a little teetery on their high heels. We found the buffet and then some fun machines but were in our room watching the fireworks on tv at 12 midnight.
The next day we stayed in the casino relaxing, gambling, watching football and resting. I tried to avoid the cig smoke by picking machines that were near the doors, but by Thursday I had enough and we took off early for home. It sure was good to see the pets, Max and our own bed.
