Continuing the gatherings

Kathy again:  On Sunday the 30th, the Bat Mitzvah celebration continued with a brunch at Jeff's cousin Alan's house.  He and his wife Gail hosted a wonderful gathering with breakfast foods, fruits and veggies and bagels, lox and knishes!  Yummmm!  It was a chance to chat and get reacquainted with friends and relatives.  For instance, Jeff hadn't seen his cousin Barbara since her wedding 20 years before.

Cousin Barbara

The usual suspects:  Megan, Carrie, Nate, Dennis, Cousin Amy, Jeff and Laurie

Then we went to the cemetery for a more solemn occasion:  The stone setting for Uncle Fred.  Cousin Rory spoke emotionally about his Dad, and the gravestone was revealed.  Jeff and I put flowers on his grave along with the graves of Jeff's parents, Uncle Bob, Grandma Cahn and Aunt Susan.  After the little ceremony, we went back to Aunt Jan's for coffee and fruit and baked goods from Davis Bakery.  I was full of emotion, and also stuffed with food by the time this day was over! Sadly, it was time to say goodbye to the family from Michigan and Cleveland.  What a great time we have had together.  Tomorrow, July 1, we drive back to Chicago.  We spent the evening with Amy and Sheldon, listening to music, packing and enjoying our last few moments together.
